My September Ipsy bag came about 5 days early! Usually this bag is slower than snot so it was a pleasant surprise, although the contents weren’t much of a surprise- I cheated again!
Not familiar with Ipsy? Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription bag. Each month, they send you 5 deluxe samples or full size items of various make-up and beauty products. The monthly products always come packed in a unique make-up bag. The cost is 10 dollars a month and the values typically exceed the cost. Their “wait list” is a mile long, but sometimes you can skip it by cluttering your Facebook newsfeed with ads.
Ipsy ships via DHL and the final delivery is made by USPS. They ship out of NC and it generally takes 8-10 days to get to me in MI. I’m not sure what went right this month, but I had my bag in 4 days!
Inside the pink pouch is the bag and an info card. Ipsy’s info cards are rather generic and don’t provide any product info, you’ll have to log into your glam room for that! The theme this month is Street Style and the bag with the studs fits that theme perfectly! I wasn’t overly excited about this bag when I saw photos of it online, but I love it in person.
First look! It’s hard to do a real “first look” with a bag, so I just dumped the bag and took a photo. As I already mentioned, I had peeked at my Glam Room prior to my bag being shipped. Ipsy is also on its second month of allowing early sneak peeks which generally happen as early as the 1st of each month. Meaning, I already forgot what I’d be getting by the time my bag arrived!
Briogeo Don’t Dispair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask: Full Size, 26. Sample Size, 4.95.
I was excited to try this. My hair is often overly frizzy, more so on wash days. I really wanted to love it, but I didn’t. The smell was fine, nothing amazing, sort of like decent hotel bath products. However, the smell aside, within a minute of leaving this on my hair, my scalp started to burn. I rarely have a reaction to hair and skincare products, so I was bummed and a little surprised.
Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss: Full Size, 19.00
This color might be a tad too dark for me. I swatched it and I’m just not sure how I feel about it. The formula seems fine, it’s not sticky. Since I’m not a fan of the color, I haven’t tested the staying power yet.
Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil: Full Size, 11. Sample Size, 2.86.
I’m pretty sure every month I get eyeliner from Ipsy. It’s not my favorite product, but at least the formula on this one seems decent and useable. The color is different than the 1000 other black eyeliners I already have, so that’s a positive as well.
NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow: Full Size, 4.50
This is a really nice neutral shade with a hint of shimmer. I really like it! Honestly, this product makes up for the rest of the bag being lackluster. I tried to swatch it, but it was far too close to the color of my skin tone. Nothing appeared in the photo except a tad of shimmer! The color seems to last and the price is cheap enough that I’d probably pick up a few more of different colors on my next Target trip.
Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease duet brush: 6.99
Who doesn’t need new brushes? While it’s not the most exciting product to get, it’s a nice brush to add to my collection. The dual uses makes it super useful and practical.
Overall, this wasn’t my favorite Ipsy bag, but I still found a few useful products. I don’t think I was overly thrilled with ANY of the products this month so it wasn’t like I was missing out on anything. I hope next month has more of a fall theme maybe a bag with warm colors? Even though it wasn’t my favorite, This bag had a total value of 38.30, which is pretty impressive for 10 dollars spent!
