How lucky am I? BOTH of my Birchboxes came on the same day! So many new things to play with and when I’m not feeling well, it’s the perfect pick-me-up.
In case you aren’t familiar, Birchbox is a monthly women’s beauty subscription service. Each month they stuff a box full of 4-6 sample size beauty and lifestyle products for only 10 dollars! If you like what was in your box, you have the opportunity to review all of your products for points towards full size items in the Birchbox Shop. Each item reviewed lots you 10 points, when you hit 100, that’s 10 dollars in the Birchbox store! At an average of 5 products per box, that’s 10 dollars every 2 months toward full size products.
Birchbox recently launched a new element to their subscription called Pick-Your-Sample which allows subscribers to select one of 3-4 preselected samples to go into their boxes. On top of the preselected samples, you have the option to select a specially one time curated box. It’s really the best of both worlds. If you like surprises, you don’t have to pick. If you hate surprises and want to know everything in your box, get the specially curated box! Here are this month’s selections:
I reviewed the BuzzFeed Life Happy Holidays Hack Box yesterday. For the box in this review, I chose the Not Soap, Radio body wash as my sample.
Birchbox ships out of TN and uses Newgistics shipping. It generally takes 4-5 days to get to me.
The Birchbox theme this month is giving and focuses on well…giving back! Birchbox is giving subscribers the opportunity to give back by simply sharing a photo of the red shipping box with #shaRED on instagram. For each box shared, Birchbox will donate 1 dollar to (RED). So, if you are a Birchbox subscriber, make sure to share that red box!
I peeked at my box, but I honestly couldn’t remember what I was getting. I’ve been with Birchbox for more than a year now, and I’ve had 2 boxes for 6 months. The stuff just sort of blends together and I can’t remember what to expect!
Not Soap, Radio Joy Inducing Body Wash: Full Size, 16. Sample Size, 1.76.
This was my sample pick of the month! I actually sampled it a few months back but I wanted more! I love the way it smells but I can’t justify buying it because…well..I have far too much body wash. It’s a lemon-y scent but is also super sweet. It almost smells like lemon Girl Scout cookies.
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner: Full Size, 45. Sample Size, 11.45.
C got this product in his Birchbox Man this month and I got it in a different Birchbox last month. I love the stuff and with that price point, they can send it every month and I’d b fine. It helps to unclog pores and reduce the appearance of blackheads.
Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Satin Taupe: Full Size, 15. Sample Size, 5.
I forgot to swatch this! But it’s a nice neutral color. It’s basically lazy eyeshadow. The color shows up well with little to no effort and lasts all day. I’ll be curious to see how long this stick lasts.
theBalm cosmetics Cindy-Lou Manizer: Full Size, 24. Sample Size, 1.60.
theBalm always has some pretty cute sample products. This is a really nice, super versatile highlighter product. I think it will last awhile, but I may in fact buy the full size as well.
Camille Beckman Platinume Gold Imperial Repair Hand Therapy: Full Size, 20. Sample Size, .83.
Meh, for the stupidly long name, you’d expect it to cure any skin condition known to man. This will get used, I’m sure, but it’s glorified Jergens and does nothing for my eczema or winter skin. Oh well.
Justin’s Nut Butters Almond Chocolate Butter: Full Size, 12.99. Sample Size, 1.
If the world knew about this stuff, no one would like Nutella anymore. While not a fan of Nutella, who doesn’t like chocolate? This stuff is great and I plan on buying (and eating!) a full jar. It has texture, a little salt and some sweetness. This might be my favorite sample of the box! Side Note: This is a Birchbox Extra. Starting this month, they changed the way they give out BB Extras/Finds. It used to be based on your profile and sort of random. (Things like teas, chapsticks, and candies.) Now, if they have extras to offer, everyone will be getting one (Maybe not the same one, but you’ll still get an extra) Or no one will get one. These are always “extra” and will never take the place of one of your usual 4-5 samples. Enjoy!
Overall, I think this was one of my favorite Birchboxes to date. I generally don’t get a lot of make-up products in my box, so I’m happy I got 2 new ones to try out! The soap is some of my favorite and the Dr.Brandt’s is a miracle worker! Overall this box had a total value of 21.44.
